Day 41: Chapter 23 – Leaving the Bamboo Curtain     (p.263-269)        (Rest & a New Direction)

(first half of chapter)

1. Where did Yun plan to go? (p.263)

2. What happened so Deling was there waiting for him? (p.263-265)

3. How did they come to leave the area? (p.265,266)

4. What had Deling been praying for and how did that come about? (p.266, 267)

5. How did guidance come to leave China ? (p.267, 268)

6. What problem arose with the thought of leaving China & how did they propose to overcome it? (p.268)

7. What support did Yun enlist? (p.268, 269)

8. What did he do himself by way of preparation? (p.269)

9. What encouragement did the Lord give? (p.269)

 

Prayer:

  •  Thank the Lord that for the clarity of direction that the Lord gave Yun, and the variety of ways it came.
  •  Again ask the Lord to teach you to be alert to the various forms of guidance He brings.
  •  Ask the Lord to teach you to be a prayer warrior as you have read about in this half chapter.

Day 42: Chapter 23 – Leaving the Bamboo Curtain    (p.270-277)     (Escape from China )

(second half of chapter)

1. What did the Lord instruct Yun before going into the airport? (p.270)

2. What happened going through the procedures; how did Yun get through? (p.270-271)

3. What happened at immigration in Germany; how did he get through? (p.272)

4. What problem did he have in the refugee centre and how was that overcome? (p.273)

5. What pressure to leave China did Deling testify about? (p.274,275)

6. What confirmation of God's guidance at the airport did he later receive? (p.275)

7. What happened to Xu? (p.276, 277)

 

Prayer:

  •  Praise the Lord for the detail of His guidance is getting Yun through the airport security.
  •  Thank Him that he knows every detail of our lives and our walk through life, and is there working on our behalf, even in the midst of a hostile world.
  •  Ask Him to teach you to see the world through His eyes, and to see His hands at work

Day 43: Chapter 24 – Back to Jerusalem (p.278-262) (Starting to look outwards)

(first third of chapter)

1. What past link had there been between China and Jerusalem? (p.278)

2. What is significant today about the area through which it passes? (p.278)

3. Who had started what initiative back in 1920? (p.279)

4. What had been their five-word slogan? (p.279)

5. What two characteristics of them really impacted people? (p.279)

6. What burden had the Lord given Yun? (p.280)

7. Who responded when he sung a song from the old movement? (p.281)

 

Prayer:

  •  Thank the Lord for the faithfulness of those who have gone before with a burden to share the Gospel.
  •  Start to pray for those lands where Islam, Hinduism & Buddhism prevail.
  •  Ask Him to help you create a church where unity, love and commitment prevail.

Day 44: Chapter 24 – Back to Jerusalem    (p.281-286)        (Faithfulness and Commitment)

(second third of chapter)

1. What had happened to Simon Zao? (p.281,282)

2. How much of a marriage had he had and why? (p.282)

3. How had he maintained his vision? (p.283)

4. What instruction did he give Yun and his church? (p.284)

5. What did they mean when they spoke about ‘Back to Jerusalem? (p.284,285)

6. How did Yun prioritise that vision? (p.285)

7. How many missionaries did they intend to send out? (p.285)

8. Actually how many ‘silk roads' were there to evangelise? (p.285)

9. How did it seem that the Lord was already preparing them for those different ‘roads'? (p.286)

 

Prayer:

  •  Thank the Lord for the faithfulness of Simon Zao, holding to God's vision for forty years.
  •  Thank the Lord that although Moses lived in a desert for forty years, yet God was going to use him.
  •  Thank the Lord that most of Moses last forty years were still in the desert but faithfully looking after God's people and preparing the next generation.
  •  Ask the Lord to help you focus on Him, so that whether you are in a desert or a prison – or in a place of peace and affluence – His vision for your life and ministry will always remain the key issue.

Additional Point to Ponder: God's timing is all important. He can move when He wants. I just have to be available and full of faith and Hs Spirit.

Day 45: Chapter 24 – Back to Jerusalem   (p.286-292)     (Crucial Convictions)

(final third of chapter)

1. How did they come to view the past thirty years of suffering, persecution & torture? (p.286)

2. What was their view on the government? (p.286,287)

3. What conclusion did they come to over persecution? (p.287)

4. How did they think of the ‘Back to Jerusalem ' missionary movement? (p.287)

5. How were they encouraged by the past? (p.288)

6. What was their strategy for planting ‘churches'? (p.288)

7. What were three of the main training subjects for their missionaries? (p.290)

8. How did the Sinim Fellowship (as it was then) authorise Yun? (p.290-292)

 

Prayer:

  •  Thank the Lord for every missionary who has heard His call to follow Him in a life of sacrifice in the Gospel.
  •  Check as you pray what you feel the Lord may be saying to you even through these readings – a call to your neighbourhood, a call to another country or people?
  •  Read again this last part of the chapter and share with the Lord what you feel as you read it.
