The Readings

Before reading The Heavenly Man and before using the notes, pray and ask the Lord to impact

your life through the book and the readings.

Day 31:   Chapter 17 – Second Time in Prison      (p.196-199)        (Burnout & Arrest)

(first part of chapter)

1. What sort of lifestyle did Yun have between January 1988 and mid-1991? (p.196)

2. What three warnings did the Lord give him? (p.196-198)

3. Why did these warnings come- what was his state, and what happened? (p.198,199)

4. What appeal does he make to us? (p.199)

5. Why, naturally speaking, was he arrested? (p.198,199)

6. What sentence did he receive and where was he sent? (p.199)

Prayer:

  •  Acknowledge your attitude to serving the Lord
    •  I do little – ask for forgiveness & commit your availability to Him to be used.
    •  I do serve the Lord but recognise it is in my own strength – ask for forgiveness and a fresh sense of direction and anointing, and give yourself over to be led by Him.
    •  I seek to serve the Lord and with His strength – thank Him afresh for His strength, His power, and His direction.
  •  Thank the Lord for Yun's example of facing up to his own personal failing. Ask the Lord to help you be sensitive to your own state before Him.

Bible Reading : Zech 3:1 – 4:6

Additional Point to Ponder: I am what I am by the grace and mercy of the Lord. I would be foolish to take His glory or not use His strength.

5. How did life in the prison change for him? (p.202,203)

6. How did communication with the outside open up? (p.203-205)

Prayer:

  •  Thank the Lord that He calls us to speak answers gently, graciously and with respect. Ask Him to teach you how to do it more and more.
  •  Thank the Lord that as Yun refused to be drawn in to politics and simply maintained a gracious and righteous approach to life in the prison, the Lord blessed him there.
  •  Ask the Lord to teach you the meaning of graciousness, gentleness and respect for others as you are a witness for Him, at home, at school or college or at work.

Bible Reading : 1 Pet 3:13-18

Additional Point to Ponder: Jesus was full of grace and truth (Jn 1:14). How might I impact people if He is able to develop grace in me?
