FRAMEWORKS: Psa 113: Praise God for His goodness seen on earth

[Preliminary Comments: A simple psalm of praise. First it brings a call to the whole earth to praise Him [v.1-4], then it gives just a few simple reasons why He is worthy of our praise [v.5-9]. A simple psalm to be declared out loud.]

Part 1: v.1-4: A call to praise the Lord

v.1 Let God's people praise Him

v.1  Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, you his servants;
     praise the name of the Lord.

v.2 May His name be praised for ever

v.2  Let the name of the Lord be praised,
     both now and for evermore.

v.3 May it be praised all over the world

v.3  From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
     the name of the Lord is to be praised.

v.4 May it be praised in every nation

v.4  The Lord is exalted over all the nations,
     his glory above the heavens.

Part 2: v.5-9: The activities of the Lord

v.5 There is no one like Him who reigns from on high

v.5  Who is like the Lord our God,
     the One who sits enthroned on high,

v.6 The One who is concerned with the affairs of the earth

v.6  who stoops down to look
     on the heavens and the earth?

v.7 Who comes to help the poor and needy

v.7  He raises the poor from the dust
     and lifts the needy from the ash heap;

v.8 Who elevates them in society

v.8  he seats them with princes,
     with the princes of his people.

v.9 Who enables the barren to bear children

v.9  He settles the childless woman in her home
     as a happy mother of children.

Praise the Lord.

[Additional Comments: See clearly the call to the whole world to praise God [v.1-4] and then ponder on His simple actions it focuses on in v.5-9, then join in the praise.]
