Jude 14   Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: "See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones

Sometimes in Scripture, there are little link-ups that give us clues to much bigger things. Here in Jude, the author refers back to the beginning of Genesis to Enoch. There we aren't told much about him but he is famous for the verse: “Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” (Gen 5:24). We are told he lived 365 years and walked with God 300 years, which means he started his relationship with the Lord when he was 65, which happens to be the age he became a father. Tradition among the Jews had it that Enoch had prophesied about the Lord coming in judgment, probably then a reference to the judgment of the Flood, but Jude gives it a wider meaning, it was judgment on all ungodly people.

Enoch shows us a man with a long running relationship with the Lord and out of that relationship came revelation in the form of prophecy. Surely part of a relationship is communication and with the Lord it is no different. In our relationship with the Lord we talk to Him in prayer and He talks back. Do we hear Him? Are we listening?

The picture of Enoch is of a man sharing his life with his Lord on a daily basis. Walking suggests communion, for you talk as you walk. It's a lovely picture. Do we see our life as a walk with the Lord? Are we aware that He is there all the time? Do we share with Him and He with us?
