Daily Thoughts : March 25th

1 Chron 11:3   When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, he made a compact with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel, as the LORD had promised through Samuel.

How easy we read words of Scripture: “they anointed David king over Israel, as the LORD had promised through Samuel.” This was now happening all in accordance with God's word to David through Samuel. The only thing is that it has taken years and years to come about and in much of that time David had been on the run from Saul, with his life threatened a number of times!

We need to realise that when a personal prophetic word comes about our destiny, it frequently does not give the details of what will happen between now and fulfilment. If you follow the story of David you will se that he went through a number of stages before he was eventually made king over all Israel.

The fulfilments of prophetic promises don't come about in a vacuum. They come about as the result of a process that God takes us through. Very often the process is as important as the end product as we are being conformed to Jesus' likeness along the way. Very often it is the pressures of life in a fallen world that work on us to bring about this conformity.

Never think you can remain a selfish individual, half-hearted about God, tolerating sin, or tolerating bad relationships, and still receive the complete fulfilment of God's promise of blessing. It comes with your conformity to the likeness of Jesus. Declare to Him your willingness to be molded into Jesus' likeness, and be prepared to receive His disciplining to bring about the changes that are needed in you. The first, and perhaps most important stage, is the recognition within yourself that that is needed, then He can get to work!
