Daily Thoughts : December 28th

Lk 2:13,14  Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

The angel has given the shepherds their instructions, but before they can do anything about it, suddenly the sky is full of angels, all singing and praising God. What's this all about?

Well for over four hundred years the Lord has just been waiting until the time was just right for His Son to come on the earth, so that in thirty more years the social, economic and political situation of the world will be the best to ensure the Gospel can spread. He's been waiting all this time in silence, but now heaven and earth connect. Now the Son of God, who has sat beside the Father from before the beginning of the world, has come. He's come and the angelic fanfare that is usually confined to heaven just can't be contained. It breaks through into the material world. The truth cannot be held back!

God has just done something incredible. He's just come to the earth in human form. He's put aside His heavenly glory for a human clothing. He's come with a purpose; He's come to bring peace to whoever will receive it. For whoever will hear and respond, His blessing is ready and salvation will be imparted, peace brought and lives changed. This is a new and glorious day, this is a day when the glory of God has come to the earth! Hallelujah!
