“He did evil because he had not set his heart on seeking the LORD.” ( 12:14 )

Given victory against Israel by the Lord because he relied on God .

Asa 910BC

(41yrs)

“Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God” (14:2), led the people to seek the Lord (15:9-12), but near end of reign relied on Aram , had a foot disease but did not seek God ( 16:12 )

Jehoshaphat 872BC

(25yrs)

“in his early years he walked in the ways his father David had followed” (17:2), but fought alongside Ahab, yet “He walked in the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD” ( 20:32 )

“He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done.” (29:2) Sought God's help against Assyria . Suffered pride but repented of it.

Manasseh 697BC

“ He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, following the detestable practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.” (33:2) Was taken to Babylon , repented , taken back to Jerusalem and cleaned up the temple and turned the people back to the Lord.

Amon 642BC

“ He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done. Amon worshiped and offered sacrifices to all the idols Manasseh had made. But unlike his father Manasseh, he did not humble himself before the LORD; Amon increased his guilt.” (33:22,23) and was murdered.

Josiah 640BC

“ He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left.” (34:2). Brought about revival about half way through his reign. Wrongly went out to fight Egypt and was fatally wounded.

Dethroned by Egypt after 3 months.
